No matter what season

No matter what the season: Mallnitz is worth a visit at any time of the year. Because in the midst of the Hohe Tauern National Park, every moment is a precious moment.

Mallnitz is one of the most scenic nature hiking regions in the Alps and also the birthplace of alpinism because mountaineering already took off here back in 1762 with the ascent of the Ankogel. There is so much to experience right up to an altitude of 3,000 meters. From a leisurely hut hike along 180 km of trails to high extreme alpine mountaineering in summer. Or from skiing, snowboarding and freeride fun on over 100 km of slopes in top skiing areas such as the Ankogel and Mölltaler Glacier to more than 50 km of cross-country ski trails or snowshoe hikes in winter.

The region is the ideal starting point for countless recreational and sporting activities.

Here is a selection of the local highlights to whet your appetite

for more before you even start your vacation:

The Alpe-Adria-Trail connects the three regions of Carinthia, Slovenia and Friuli-Venezia Giulia over a total of 43 stages and approximately 750 km. The long-distance trail leads from the foot of Austria's highest mountain, the Großglockner, through the most beautiful Carinthian mountain and lake areas. Without major detours, it continues almost up to the crossroads of the three countries, Austria, Italy, Slovenia and on to the Adriatic Sea in Muggia.

Enjoyment is at the heart of long-distance hiking on the Alpe-Adria-Trail. The trail runs mainly in the non-alpine area and, as far as possible, with little difference in altitude. This makes it perfect for enjoyable hiking without a heavy backpack.

Each stage is around 20 km long, takes about 6 hours to walk and is clearly signposted. The stages lead along a fixed route that can be walked in both directions. They all offer at least one attractive destination for your culinary excursion and end in a place with suitable overnight accommodation. The Alpe-Adria-Trail connects approved paths and

offers exceptional hiking quality.

There are several landmarks along each stage that have a significant influence on the rhythm of the hike. In the future, each leg will feature at least one "magical place"; a special location representing the harmony of the four elements. These places are already present, and considered "jewels of the landscape", offering great intensity to the observer.

They gently invite you to linger and allow you to see and also feel the landscape.

You can not only see the landscape, but also feel it.

Grander Water

The knowledge concerning the (healing) powers contained in water is ancient! This is proved by innumerable myths and stories from ancient cultures. Johann Grander - "inventor" of the eponymous water - recognized more than 30 years ago how important it is to treat nature and the element of water with respect. His reasoning was based on the fact that the condition of water is crucial for our well-being and the conservation of the entire ecosystem.

His goal was to transfer the properties of revitalized water - with all its positive effects on people, animals and plants - to all water, for the benefit of everyone who drinks or uses it in everyday life. Through years of research and experimentation, Johann Grander concluded that water has the ability to transfer information. This information transfer from water to water represents a physical uniqueness and was made usable by Johann Grander for the first time in this form.

As we want to offer our guests nothing but the best, we decided to equip all

the water pipes in our Hotel Bergkristall with Grander water.
